BlackBerry Internet Service launched by VimpelCom and RIM

BlackBerry Curve 8900 smartphone now available to Beeline customers in Russia. A perfect companion to BlackBerry Internet Service. The VimpelCom Group and Research In Motion announced the launch of BlackBerry Internet Service and the BlackBerry Curve 8900 smartphone for Beeline customers in Russia. BlackBerry Internet Service is a powerful and easy to use service designed for smaller businesses and individuals. It allows customers to access up to 10 supported corporate and personal email accounts (including most popular ISP email accounts, such as Yahoo! Mail and Google Mail) from a BlackBerry smartphone. Set up is easy and does not require IT support, making it an excellent option for business users, professionals and individuals who don’t have the resources to manage a corporate email server. It enables automatic synchronization of messages between the subscriber’s BlackBerry® smartphone and email accounts.

Kent McNeley, Vice President, Marketing and Sales, VimpelCom said, “We are glad that following the success of the BlackBerry solution in the corporate market in Russia, we are now able to offer a service for the wider consumer market. A key feature of the BlackBerry solution is the ability to stay connected practically wherever you are in the world and receive your emails automatically. Today, we are offering our Beeline subscribers the opportunity to connect on BlackBerry Internet Service with unlimited data for just 300 rubles per month.”

“The BlackBerry solution is recognized around the world as the gold standard for mobile communications and is widely viewed as a trusted and reliable solution for consumers and businesses alike,” said Mark Guibert, Vice President, Corporate Marketing, RIM. “We are very pleased to bring BlackBerry Internet Service to Beeline customers in Russia.”

Customers can subscribe to BlackBerry Internet Service for a monthly charge of 300 rubles, which includes unlimited email and GPRS-traffic while on the home network or roaming domestically. International roaming is rated according to actual roaming tariffs. At launch, VimpelCom will offer the BlackBerry Curve 8900 smartphone for 17,700 rubles, including VAT.

The BlackBerry Curve 8900 smartphone features a wide range of advanced communications and multimedia capabilities. It gives users the industry’s leading mobile email and messaging solution together with access to a wide range of other mobile business and consumer applications. In addition to being an exceptional phone with powerful email, messaging, organizer, web browser and multimedia applications, the new BlackBerry Curve 8900 smartphone features a next generation processor (512MHz), built-in Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g), GPS for location-based applications, 3.2 megapixel auto focus camera, expandable memory storage, Bluetooth® 2.0 and a dazzling hi-resolution display, enabling customers to remain connected, productive and entertained while on the move.
