The manufacturer Seagate Technology will offer drives with a capacity of 5 and 6 TB.
A roadmap relayed on the web reveals plans for Seagate Technology hard drives. If you believe it, the manufacturer should introduce, in 2014, the first models with capacities of 5 and 6 TB to be for the professional market.
The first 5TB hard disk disembarks in the professional range of Constellation CS. It will be a model with dimensions of 3.5 inches. The first 6TB drive will meanwhile appear shortly after in the Constellation ES range. Again, the 3.5-inch size is mentioned.
As one of the most affordable models (performance-oriented models are Savvio 15K and Savvio 10K), these two new drives will work probably at 5900 rpm, and will have a 64 MB cache and a SATA 3 interface.
No information on the price is given however.
