Samsung has rolled out an update to its cross-platform messaging application called ChatON, which now includes SMS and MMS support.
To position better themselves in the market for mobile messaging, Samsung has released an update of its ChatON application on Android. Available in 3.2, it now offers direct access to the software layer of the system ensuring the sending and receiving of SMS and MMS.
For the manufacturer it is better positioned to compete and notably that of Google, which recently expanded its Hangouts messaging on Android. This update offers not only to make discussions via GTalk but also via SMS and MMS. Previously Facebook had also made this integration.
For now this new update is only available in Germany and Brazil. Samsung warns that performance will improve on its high-end smartphones, namely the Galaxy S3, S4, Note 2 and Note 3 with Android 4.0+ version.
