Blizzard Entertainment announced that World of Warcraft sold through more than 600,000 units in North America, Australia, and New Zealand, and reached over 200,000 simultaneous players during the holiday season.
News source: GamePro “The public’s response to World of Warcraft has been simply amazing,” said Mike Morhaime, president of Blizzard Entertainment. “We are very proud and excited to see such an overwhelming demand for the game, and we hope that the enthusiasm continues to build as we further enhance our online service.”
Most retailers sold out of the popular MMORPG in North America–with major retailers such as EB Games having the title on backorder.
While the time frame has yet to be unveiled, Blizzard promises to bring PvP Battlegrounds “in the near future,” and also a PvP Reward System.
