Low insertion loss and small package size enable combo wireless designs
California Eastern Laboratories (CEL) is now shipping two new RF antenna switches, the uPG2413T6M and the uPG2413T6Z. The single pole triple throw (SP3T) switches, designed by Renesas Electronics Corporation, feature low insertion loss and small size.
Footprint compatible and small size
The uPG2413T6M and uPG2413T6Z are based on the same chip die but have different packages for different purposes. The T6M is footprint compatible to a prior generation’s switch, enabling smooth product transitions for products based on the older design. The T6Z is smaller, at 1.5 mm x 1.5 mm, enabling today’s ever-shrinking embedded wireless designs. Both feature a low height of 0.4 mm.
Combination Wireless Designs
With its triple-throw design and low insertion loss, the new 2413 switches can support Wi-Fi and Bluetooth devices, even in the same module. Such combo products are becoming more common as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are more frequently embedded together in laptops, netbooks, printers, smart phones, and other handheld wireless devices. The RF switches are also applicable in ZigBee/802.15.4 products.
