Sprint Nextel Launches 4G service in the San Francisco Bay Area.

(Telecomworldwire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Provider of wireless and wireline communications services Sprint Nextel (NYSE:S) on Tuesday launched its 4G service in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Announcing this on Tuesday , the company said that its new mobile broadband service enables fast mobile downloads, wireless video chat and turbo-charged mobile Web browsing up to 10 times faster than 3G service.

The company’s 4G service will initially be available in San Francisco, San Jose, Palo Alto and Oakland. Nationwide, Sprint’s 4G network is available in 71 markets2 across the country, including Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles and New York City.

The company said that its 4G network can be accessed with a wide range of 3G/4G capable devices, including the Samsung Epic 4G and HTC EVO 4G. Users can also power up the Overdrive 3G/4G Mobile Hotspot to share 4G speeds with up to five WiFi-enabled devices, such as an iPad, laptop, iPod Touch or game console.

Sprint also offers Dell Inspiron Mini 10 (1012) netbook designed to deliver maximum connectivity in a compact size.
