The range includes highly optimised rack servers in 1U, 2U, 3U and 4U (also pedestal convertible) Boston Limited is the first vendor to market products available as building block solutions with rack server optimisation built in from the original design Boston Limited, specialist distributor and OEM server and storage solutions provider, is pleased to announce immediate availability of its own AMD Opteron and AMD Dual-Core based server solutions. The range includes highly optimised rack servers in 1U, 2U, 3U and 4U (also pedestal convertible). Boston Limited is the first vendor to market products available as building block solutions with rack server optimisation built in from the original design. Cooling, management, component placement and server management have all been key factors in the development of the range. These are certainly the best-in-class with existing processor technology from AMD but are also ready to take the next generation Dual-Core products which were announced earlier today (21-APRIL-2005). Having both Intel and AMD platforms in Boston’s portfolio offers an excellent variety and choice to customers irrespective of their market segment. Manoj Nayee (Managing Director at Boston Limited) explains the inclusion of AMD solutions. “Boston Limited has historically provided exclusively Supermicro Intel-based server solutions. However, our new range brings the AMD option into the realms of a server-class reality, complete with a full range of features not previously available to the OEM community including genuine server management. Boston is in the best position to service customers, offering many years of expertise in the OEM server field with products that are world leaders.” The Boston platforms allow the use of either single core or Dual-Core processors, making migration easy and reducing the total cost of ownership because of this flexible approach. In addition to solutions that are of interest to the corporate and general markets, Boston have also created platforms specifically targeted at the cost-conscious High Performance Computing market. Nayee states “We have not compromised on quality, but merely recognise that HPC users don’t generally need all the bells and whistles, as they see them, that are imperative for the corporate end-user. So we have been able to remove expansion slots and hot-swap drive bays to meet the specification and budgets of the vast majority of HPC clients.”Boston Limited was established in 1992 and has been providing quality computer equipment to the computer industry since inception. The focus has always been in the sourcing and supply of technically advantageous equipment to the OEM and System Integrator. The business has grown steadily to make Boston Limited the number one source for some of the best equipped server-room hardware across Europe. Boston Limited sees the addition of AMD as a technology advantage for its partners, bringing superior design and quality to a thirsty AMD market. The Boston Limited own-brand AMD platforms will augment the existing range of Supermicro Intel-based server hardware.
