Microsoft watchers who had been expecting Microsoft to launch officially its adCenter online-advertising platform in June got a surprise on Thursday. Microsoft announced at the MSN Strategic Summit in Redmond that the company is opening adCenter for business in the U.S., effective immediately. Contextual ad testing for adCenter will start later this summer. Microsoft is planning to make adCenter a key part of its own Windows Live strategy, by using it to power its Windows Live Mail, Windows Live Spaces, Windows Live Safety Center, Windows Live for Mobile, Office Live and Office Online, and Xbox.com properties.
