Samsung N120 Ultra Portable Netbook

Samsung N120 is a 10.1-inch Netbook new range of Samsung, which is
together with the N110 model and has the difficult task of replacing the
popular NC10, still considered by many one of the best low cost laptops
on the market. Samsung N120 has now attracted the attention of the
general public thanks to its innovative acoustic speaker system with
mini-subwoofer, which provides a faithful reproduction of sound and
powerful as hardly happens on the Netbook. The remaining hardware is
not separated.

As the netbook are beginning to acquire the computer market, every
company tries to gain a larger share with new models with better
screens and especially with more autonomy. This time the Samsung with N120
promises to offer 10.5 hours of autonomy with the 6 cell battery,
Good autonomy, large keyboard, touchpad slightly larger than the NC10:
N120 combines the many advantages.

Ever since it released the NC10, which was the first netbook to achieve
more than 6 hours of battery life, Samsung has been known for producing
premium-quality netbooks that offer long endurance, comfortable
keyboards, and strong performance.

Unfortunately, Samsung seems to be pulling a bit of an Asus and
bringing out various refreshes of its netbooks which vary only in
non-obvious ways. Like the N110 before Samsung’s latest one is available
in black or white at first glance nothing more than an aesthetic
update, so inside you’ll find exactly the same components as in last
year’s model. The Samsung N120 delivers on this front and should easily
last 7 -8 hours whilst web browsing or using Office. but it
didn’t last quite as long as the Asus Eee PC 1000HE, but there wasn’t
much in it.

Input devices and pointing:
The increased width of the base has been exploited fully. In terms of
input devices and pointing. in fact reported several
improvements like a touchpad with a sensitive and a larger keyboard full
size from 12 inches. The latter, thanks to the regular layout and the
distance between the keys of 18,5 mm, not cause problems even the user
is accustomed to write with your desktop computer which is quite
comfortable even for prolonged typing activities.

The touchpad has a sensitive area slightly larger than the average and
the selection keys, arranged in the conventional manner, immediately
put at ease the user. You can feel the absence of a button rapid
deactivation to prevent accidental movement of the pointer while you
type, but it tackles with the combination from the keyboard Fn + F10.

Audio and speakers :
A High Definition codec Audio Realtek ALC272 HD Audio compatible
industry runs the audio to 2.1 channels. The speakers on either side of
the screen work in conjunction with a tiny subwoofer to produce
excellent audio for a netbook. Compared with the wimpy speakers found
on most netbooks, the N120 offers significantly better clarity and
volume. It means that in addition to the two speakers on either side of
the screen from 1.5 W each there is also a mini-subwoofer at the bottom of
the base that allows you to enhance
the volume.Don’t consider the N120 a replacement for your boom box,
however the audio lacks the depth and richness you get with external
speakers, and the volume isn’t desk shaking. Still for listening to
music or watching movies on the road, the N120 offers a much better
experience than typical netbooks do.

Video conferencing and ultra portability feature :
The N120’s off white chassis (also available in black) closely
resembles that of the N110 and NC10. A class leading design built to
fit in with people’s fast-paced and digitally interconnected lives, so
you can do even more on the move and still look good! The superb look
and feel of its slim and elegant chassis is accentuated with a choice
of colours and hap tic styling.

On the inside, this netbook looks nearly identical to the N110 aside
from the screen’s wider bezel, which here incorporates the speakers and
a larger webcam section. An integrated 1.3 mega pixel digital motion
camera makes it easier than ever to keep in touch with friends and
family, using video-conferencing or live messaging. The camera combines
the resolution and image quality of a still camera with the sustained
high frame rates of a video camera.

Networking :
The Netbook is equipped with all the main options for network
connectivity, no right to the modem HSDPA / HSUPA but, given the total
preparation, we expect for the coming months the output of a
configuration with integrated 3G.

For wireless networks there is an Atheros AR5007EG adapter complies with IEEE
802.11b and 802.11g standards present but, unfortunately, does not support the
latest standard, 802.11n. The presence of two antennas will take
advantage of increased stability and range of the signal allowed by
MIMO technology.

The wired Ethernet connection is handled by a network adapter Marvell
Yukon 88E8040, while Bluetooth 2.0 which uses an internal Broadcom 2045
module. To enable or disable the wireless feature any
hardware switch is not present , then to a central control must rely on combinations
from the keyboard Fn + F9.

Conclusions :
Samsung N120 has many of the qualities that made it popular but do not forget that its predecessor is one of
the most popular Netbook at all, especially by users have remained
undisturbed. We are not referring only to the pure white chassis,
surprising resistant to dirt but also placed great attention to
comfort and all users’ reliability of the system. Among the features
worthy of note, in particular ‘high battery life supplied,
fully integrated into the design of the laptop.

In conclusion, Samsung N120 Netbook can be the ideal for those users
with total freedom of movement also seek comfort, enhanced by a
keyboard and discrete multimedia capabilities, allow the system to
2.1-channel audio and 1.3-megapixel webcam with microphone.
