Zync Cloud Z5 5-Inch Smartphone Review

Zync Cloud Z5 5-Inch Smartphone Review

Introduction:

Zync Cloud Z5 is the first smartphone launched with large and wide 5inch touchscreen display, by the company. It is not wrong if we call it as a ‘Phablet’ device. The phone is running with Android ICS 4.0.4 OS and is powered by powerful Dual-Core processor. It has dual SIM slots and comes with 4GB internal storage memory. Though there are several other devices available with such screen size and configuration, Cloud Z5 can be considered as one of the strongest competitor for other budget phablets such as Micromax Canvas A100, WickedLeak Wammy Note, etc; in the price range of below 10,000 INR. While all other smartphone, mentioned above, cost you 10k or above, Cloud Z5 is available at just Rs. 9000/- Lets check out its detailed review.

Design, Body and keys:

Design of Cloud Z5 is slim and good looking. At first sight, the device looks like Galaxy Note 2 as per its sleek design and very large display. It is covered with silver border with matte finish. At the front top, there is call speaker with 0.3 Megapixel Camera and ofcourse ‘Zync Logo’. At front bottom, there is a Home button with two capacitive keys (Settings and Back keys).

On the right side there is Volume up/down keys and on left it carries Lock/Power button. On the bottom there is a USB/Charging port. Zync has provided USB charger that can be also used for file transfer. On the top, there is a 3.5mm Headphone Jack.  The Back cover is made up of matte textured in black finish and has 8 Megapixel Camera with Flash. There is also a brand name ‘Zync’ at the back.

Screen / Display:

The main success factor of Cloud Z5 is its display which is 5-inch multitouch TFT LCD capacitive touchscreen. It offers 480 x 800 pixels resolution. The touch Sensitivity of this device is better than other budget phablets I have seen so far and provides better experience while watching movies or playing high-end Android games. Also if have any favorite websites which you visit daily, you will surely love to do web browsing on this device’s large display as it provides PC like browsing interface. We have shown this in our video review, you can check it out.

OS, Processor, RAM:

It would have been good if Zync launched this phone with Jelly Bean, but as of now the device is running with Android ICS 4.0.4. The hardware provided in the phablet optimizes Android and gives you full performance. Hope it gets Jelly Bean update in the near future. In other configurations, Cloud Z5 is powered with 1GHz Single Core CPU and 512MB of RAM. However there is no GPU provided with this device, it is capable to play few high end games as shown in our video review.

Multimedia and Gaming:

For better multimedia and gaming experience we always need large screen with better resolution. Zync cloud Z5 fulfills that requirement. The device is capable to play full HD videos and the playback on such large screen is quite impressive. However the built-in player is not capable to play all video formats, hence you can download third party player called MX Player from Google Play. As far as gaming is concerned, though there is no GPU provided in configuration, it is still able to play quite good graphical games.

Camera:

Zync Cloud Z5 has dual camera, i.e; 0.3 Megapixel on the front and 8 Megapixel primary camera on the back. Well it says 8MP camera, but the camera is not as effective as other similar type of cameras we have seen so far. It won’t provide good quality images as other 8MP camera smartphone’s provide. Also front camera is not so clear in normal lights. It will be very difficult to do video calls or capture pictures in normal or low light environment. As per features the camera contains several features such as HDR effect, Scene Mods, Smile Shot and many more things which makes your images attractive, but only in good light condition.

Built-in Apps:

Zync provides some built-in applications such as Free BigFlix Subscription, Bollywood hungama, ibibo games, ThinkFree Office, Horoscope, and many more apps. But I noticed that there was no Gmail and Gtalk built-in which was quite surprising for me.

Connectivity and Storage:

Zync has also provided better connectivity options with the device. You can use 3G over your Sim Card network or connect it to your wireless router over high speed Wifi. It also comes with Bluetooth 2.0 to transfer files with other Bluetooth enabled devices. And ofcourse, you can connect it to your computer and transfer files with USB support as well.

As per storage, the box in which the device comes says that Cloud Z5 comes with built-in 8GB Memory, but in fact it has 4GB Internal Storage only, however, Zync provides 4GB MicroSD Card for free, which in combine is 8GB storage with the pack. You can expand this memory upto 32GB using external SD Card.

  • Android v.4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich

Conclusion:

The best thing I loved about this device is its large display. The widgets also look very good on the screen. One negative point I noticed about this device is that, all of a sudden, while using the phone or while it is in idle mode, the phone used to give a pop-up saying that “The battery Temprature is high” and phone gets turned Off automatically after few seconds. Other than that, Zync cloud Z5 comes with 2500mAh battery which provides upto 5 hours of battery life with Chatting, listening music and Wifi connected. This phone is a great companion for its budget range for users looking to buy a smartphone under 10,000 Rs.

Pros:

  • Large 5-inch Touchscreen
  • Good Processing power

Cons:

  • Poor Camera
  • Poor Battery
