It is recommended not to format the hard drive completely. It would loose important files that are required for connectivity. There are lots of features in this drive which are worth to discuss. After using it for a while, I do not really found it very costly. Because of its benefits. Like it has a integrated battery that might work well for 6 to 8 hrs depending on the usage. If you are using it only for accessing your files, then battery work longer. HD video streaming consume more. Seagate promises upto 10hrs of battery life. And it really works. Just turn it off when not using. It provide you seamless connectivity with multiple devices. It does not appear as a shared storage in the lan network. You have to connect to the drive wifi to access data. You can add a password and secure that. Design:
Seagate Wireless Plus 2TB External Hard Drive is portable and bit heavy also. It has a thick design. The size is just perfect. You can put that in your bag or in your pocket. Due to high storage the device gets a bit heavy also. Most of this drive runs on laptop hard drive. There can be dual inside the box. In the above image you can see the drive size. I had kept it next to Moto X Smartphone.
Front:
After turning it on there are two light indicators on the top. A green light for power and battery status. When there is low battery it turns to red and the blue one for wireless connectivity. It blinks on start and then stable after few seconds. after that you can start Seagate Media app to connect. If you are using Smartphone then go in the wifi section first and tap on the drive name. Then launch Seagate Media App. Your device will be disconnected from any other active wifi connection.
A power button sites on the left top. You can turn off the drive when not using. This will help you to save some battery. The size is not much annoying when you are handling it. You can place it nicely in bag. It is a heavy to carry in the pocket. The range is good. You can turn it on and put that in your bag. The streaming still works well. Do add a password to protect your files.

You can download Seagate Cloud Back and Seagate PC Software from the official site. Once you connect the drive to the pc, the software will automatically copy your files to the drive. Seagate Wireless Plus 2TB External Hard Drive has a thick plastic enclosure. It is not durable. You must protect the drive from shock and water. You can use a pouch or some type of cover for it. Streaming files is simple on the same. Maximum 7 devices can access file from it. If you are sitting to much far then you might see buffering issue. You can play your videos in the default video player of Seagate Media App. It usually supports a lot amount of video and image format. But it is recommended to use the most common one like mp4, avi, etc. You can also choose your own media player. for that you have to go in the settings and remove tick from Use the Apps player. Next them when you tap on video you will get a small popup window from where you can choose installed players. MX Player is the best one for android. It plays all type of video format.

I had connected around 4 devices to the hard drive and it work well for streaming hd videos. You can use it in the entire room. Wifi connectivity is good here. You can see the signal strength on the wifi icon of your android or ios device. It is best for multimedia streaming. You can add hundreds of images on that and let people see your content on their phone. You can download any of them if you want and save that in the phone or tablet. You can also turn on the web connectivity where you get a url to access all the drive content. Everything works well only if you are connected to the drive wifi. Seagate Wireless Plus 2TB External Hard Drive creates personal wifi network. On which all devices have to connect to share the files. It is good to add a nice password so that your data does not remains available for all. The usage gets extended by connecting the drive to separate wifi network. That allow the drive to appear in Windows or Apple Lan network. This makes it more useful.
You don't have to use a pc for storing files, you can just turn on the drive and allow a simple shared storage space. Battery life of Seagate Wireless Plus 2TB External Hard Drive is impressive. It works well for the entire day with mixed usage. Like photos, videos and files. You can only copy files from the drive through Seagate Media App, you cannot move in it.
